This is one of the crystalline forms of titanium.' It is used in 1 % to 3 % amounts to produce tans, but its most common use is to modify the action of other colourants and to produce special effects such as mottling and streaking.
Titanium dioxide can be substitued it the tan colour is not a necessity to the glaze.
